Earlier this summer, I featured an article (No Laughing Matter) in which I had pointed out a painfully public televised display of joking on the topic of seizures on the ABC Television talent show Rising Star at the hands of Country Music Star Brad Paisley. Brad Paisley had been giving praise to a very talented 20 year old musician who had just finished his stellar performance on stage. Not wishing to repeat what had been said and digging up the past too much, you are welcome to refer to my previous blog by clicking the name above. Since making light of that situation, Brad Paisley and I had spoken a few different times through Twitter and he had since apologized for his poor choice of words that night in judging Jesse Kinch. Brad Paisley had even gone as far as to offer to retweet my Epilepsy Awareness Video (The World Needs To Know) and wear Epilepsy Awareness wristbands created by The Epilepsy Network (TEN)
(This photo is of my wrist.)
Here’s hoping a day will come in which, a photo will surface of Brad Paisley wearing this very wristband in support of Epilepsy Awareness for all of the world to see.
Recently to my amazement and delight, I was met with great surprise to see that Jesse Kinch, the singer/songwriter who had received the comment that very night had reached out and favorited a tweet that I had been mentioned in that featured my Epilepsy Awareness video “The World Needs To Know”. How wonderful to know that he too supports Epilepsy Awareness & believes that seizures are no laughing matter. What a truly great guy. I recall, directly after Brad Paisley’s seizure comment, Jesse being somewhat taken back by surprise it appeared. His response was simply excellent. “Music promotes peace.” Yes it most certainly does! Jesse Kinch went straight for the path of peace in a moment such as this. He sought out and kindly let me and others know that he supports Epilepsy Awareness knowing just how much it means to those of us that it had affected deeply.
This, perhaps, could be the beginning of many amazing things to come from Jesse Kinch and Epilepsy Awareness! I certainly hope so! I have a very good feeling Jesse will go far in his music career. For what Jesse has done to show his support thus far, I thank him greatly for that. I don’t know if he knows just how many faces he’s lit up with smiles with his show of support, but that he has done today.
He definitely has my vote and I’m pretty sure he’s gained many more votes today too!
